Nov 9, Drive to Santa Fe

Nov 9, 2019

We all took a while to get going so we didn’t leave until around 11:00 AM.  After a quick fill up we were on our way!  It is a long drive so we made a stop at the Petrified Forest National Monument.  It had some more cool landscapes but nothing compared to Bryce or Zion.  They had some very old petroglyphs but you could not get close to them and had to see them by binoculars.  The most interesting thing in the park is a petrified tree that spanned a small gully.  We pretty much blew through the place and got back on the road as fast as we could.

There was supposed to be a petrified forest but we only found one tree

After that more driving until we found ourselves in Gallup, New Mexico.  There we enjoyed some Southwestern food at Jerry’s Café.  After that we filled up on gas at Duke City Fueling where I was able to fill up for $2.48 a gallon and got a free drink besides.  Then it was back on the road and we finally made to Dan’s sister’s house in Santa Fe around 11:30 pm.  I was exhausted from the drive and went to sleep while Holly went in to say hello to everyone.  They had a little party and I found out the next morning that Holly didn’t get to bed until 4 in the morning.
